Over 6,000 surgical procedures performed as main surgeon, mainly on mitral, aortic and tricuspid valve, with both traditional and mini-invasive technique, even with concomitant atrial fibrillation ablation; expert in myocardial revascularization, with and without cardiopulmonary bypass. Excellence in the field of treatment of dissecting and chronic aneurysms of the ascending aorta and aortic arch with an innovative hybrid cardiac/vascular surgical technique. Excellence in the transapical replacement of the aortic and mitral valve (valve-in-valve and valve-in-ring). Particular experience in reinterventions, in patients already treated with cardiac surgery. Expert in tricuspid valve repair in patients with primary tricuspid regurgitation and expert in beating-heart repair and replacement techniques for the tricuspid valve, in patients with previous cardiac surgeries and with severe tricuspid pathology.
Over 70 experimental and clinical articles on heart valves pathology, open and mini-invasive heart valvular surgery, on-pump and off-pump coronary arteries bypass graft, ascending aorta and aortic arch surgery.
Speaker in more than 100 national and international Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery congresses.
Participant in more than 100 events and refresher/training courses on Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology.
Principal Investigator in several national and international studies. Personal contribution in development and application of mini-cardiopulmonary bypass in aortic valve replacement interventions.
